Also known as: Chenpi
Aged citrus peel with a cozy aroma—nice after meals, especially with pu-erh tea.
How to use at home
Tea
Rinse one small piece (about 3 g), steep in hot water for 8–10 minutes. Pairs well with pu-erh.
How often: 1 cup after meals
3 g (0.1 oz) dried peel
Soup
Add to bone broth or congee in the last 30 minutes.
How often: 1–2 times per week
5 g per pot
Where to buy
Asian grocery stores, TCM shops, Amazon
Cautions
Not suitable if you have dry cough with little phlegm or ongoing heat signs. Use modest amounts when starting out.
Chenpi tastes more like dried citrus than fresh orange zest. Start with a small piece—it is stronger than you might expect.
Easy pair: Steep with pu-erh for a mellow after-meal cup.
