Seasonal Health Basics

6/5/2026

The Huangdi Neijing teaches adapting lifestyle to seasonal change—nourishing Yang in spring and summer, and Yin in autumn and winter.

Spring

Spring promotes growth. Rise early, stay active, ease emotional tension, and favor mildly sweet foods to support the Spleen.

Summer

Summer nourishes growth and the Heart. Protect Yang, avoid excessive cold foods, and allow moderate sweating.

Autumn

Autumn is a time of gathering. Moisturize the Lungs, sleep earlier, and reduce spicy foods.

Winter

Winter stores essence. Rest more, keep warm, protect the Kidneys, and use gentle warming foods when appropriate.

Apply these guidelines according to your constitution rather than as rigid rules.
